And this is how we deal with our wiggles and have a little fun on indoor recess days (which unfortunately has occurred often lately)! We sure love Justin Bieber! Happy weekend! :) I hope you had a fabulous holiday season and a happy New Year! Now that we are "back at it," we're gearing up for a long stretch of hard work and great strides in learning! We had a Universal Assessment today. The assessment is a DIBELS timed fluency test. In the fall, our Universal Assessment tested letter sounds. This time around and from now on, students read a short passage. This assessment is one measure of reading that gives us a lot of information regarding your child and their ability to tranfer strategies and sight words to reading. Our grade level goal for this upcoming reading assessment is reading 23 words or more in one minute, which would be on track for first grade. At conference time, I will let you know where your child scored according to our district rubric and the plan we have in place to make sure every child gets the help they need.
Speaking of conferences, they are quickly approaching! Tomorrow your child will bring home a conference preference form. Please list a first, second, and third choice so I can accommodate your schedule. It may be difficult to accommodate your choice if availability is limited. We will also schedule sibling conferences back to back. Please make sure you return the conference preference form by Monday, January 14th! I will schedule your child's conference and send a confirmation home. I will be on vacation from January 9th-16th. Please contact the office if you have a tranportation change or need assistance during that time. I will have limited email access, but will try to return your email shortly after my return. Thanks and have a great week! Liz |
