Oh, how we celebrated your birthday for you today. Thank you for being one of our favorite authors and inspiring us to be silly and clever at the same time. Our class read a bunch of your books and wrote silly sentences about the gifts we would give you for your birthday. I was astonished at the creative ideas! We explored "Seuss juice" and used our 5 senses to describe the fuity goodness. Can you guess which sense we enjoyed the most? :) We sang to you and enjoyed a birthday cupcake in your honor. We even dressed the part. Check out some of our highlights of the day:

Dear First Grade Families,
Did you know that our Student Council sponsors our volunteer-run school store? Students can buy a variety of items such as: fun pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, pens, calculators, etc. The prices for these range from $0.25-$3.00. Please review the school store expectations along with the dates if you give your child money and permission to visit. Our class may visit on: Feb. 28, Mar. 13, Apr. 3, 17, May 1 School store expectations: *Students will not be able to visit the school store on any day but the days listed above *Students who bring money for the school store may visit right after lunch and then go outside for recess *Students should only go to the school store if they have money (given by you) to spend *Students should never bring more than $10.00 and must keep their money in their pocket until visiting the school store (if the money is lost, it is extremely difficult to track down) *All items bought from the school store should be taken home (unless it has a classroom purpose – pencil, erase, etc.) *If items from the school store become a distraction, any teacher may take the item and hold them until the end of the day *If a student is not meeting school store expectations, they will lose the privilege of visiting Thanks for reviewing these expectations with your child! ~Mrs. Housman |
