Your child is currently learning lots of strategies to solve double digit addition problems! You will find that most of these strategies are different from the way you or I learned when we were kids. Our goal is to give students lots of ways to solve problems so they are able to find a strategy that makes the most sense and works well for them. We all learn differently, so different strategies are needed. Below are the four strategies we've practiced thus far. Please feel free to refer to them and help your child use them when completing double digit addition problems on their homework. Remember, there is not a single right way to get to the answer!
The first graders and music teachers did such a fabulous job with our spring music share!!!! Here are a few highlights (notice the super proud and smiley faces ;)! Don't forget to view the cute videos!
Dear First Grade Families,
First graders will be sharing spring music to Kindergarteners and 4 Star students on Tuesday, May 14th from 3:00-3:30 in the cafeteria. This is a very informal event, but parents are welcome to attend. Sincerely, First Grade Teachers Mrs. Bordonaro and Mrs. Burk |
