We are working hard on choosing good fit books to help us increase our reading fluency and comprehension. Ask your child how they choose a good fit book! They can probably even show you how we do a 5-finger test. We are also focusing on asking and answering questions while we read as well as finding the main idea and details in books! Our Thursday homework will now revolve around the weekly reading strategy. All reading groups are up and running! Your child will meet with me in a small group each week to work at their instructional level on a text.
We are working hard on using the step by step story problem strategies in order to solve both addition and subtraction story problems. We have also been working hard on explaining our problem solving and extending our thinking when possible.
We have been busy observing our butterflies and mealworms in science. We will begin planting and learning about the plant life cycle soon.
We are gearing up for our fall party on November 7th! We would love any volunteers that are wanting to attend! We ask that you complete the yellow sign-up that went home last week by November 4th so we can get volunteer forms to you to fill out before the party (protocol). A reminder that we do not dress up in Halloween costumes or bring candy to share (tempting though...;) this week.
Enjoy the little bit of warm weather we have left!
